STEPS Autism Treehouse presents: Helping Kids to Eat Presented by Justine Urbahn
Do you have a fussy eater? If you, like many families with children on the spectrum, said yes then make sure you come along to this highly informative workshop.
ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) is a newly diagnosed eating disorder, previously known as selective eating disorder. Children with ARFID are extremely fussy eaters with limited diets. Justine's talk will focus on how ARFID develops and what strategies parents can use to help their children.
About Justine:
Justine studied a Masters of Nutrition and Dietetics at Flinders University in South Australia. Shortly after this she moved to London for 10 years where she studied paediatric nutrition. Upon arriving back in Australia with her family Justine set up her private practice. Justine continues to have a special interest in childhood nutrition but also enjoys seeing adults.
In 2016 along with Kylie Martin from Chatterboxes, Justine established Happy Eaters. Happy Eaters aims to help children with feeding difficulties. Many of the children seen at Happy Eaters have ARFID - a selective eating disorder where children have extremely limited diets. Justine's work with children with ARFID is extremely rewarding, her aim is to empower parents and carers to help their child eat a better diet.
