Olympians go out to lunch for STEPS Charity

The second Locker Room lunch by Sunshine Coast Hotels will host much-loved Australian Olympians Duncan Armstrong and Steven Bradbury at The Lakehouse on Thursday 22 March, with all proceeds going to STEPS Charity.

Renowned poet, Rupert McCall will MC the event, ensuring that the lead up to the Commonwealth Games event at the Gold Coast in April will be the hottest topic in the room.

Scott Armstrong, owner of Sunshine Coast Hotels, said his fundraising target this year is $10,000 to support STEPS Pathways College, an Australian first educational college that provides accommodation and life skills for young people with a disability to learn to live independently and participate in our community.

STEPS Charity Manager, Angela Miles said the opportunity to welcome two more high calibre and entertaining former Olympians and Gold medallists to the lunch was a golden opportunity to fundraise for young people in need.

“Our friend and STEPS Charity advocate Alyce Burnett recently won her first individual Gold medal in the 1000m sprint for Kayaking at the World Titles, she joined us for lunch last year alongside team mates and that event has inspired this next great lunch of champions,” Angela said.

“We are delighted to have such stellar support from so many supporters and share in the excitement ahead of the Commonwealth Games.”

Sunshine Coast Hotels Group Executive Chef, Damien Grimes has designed a 3 course menu matched to Robert Oatley signature series wines.

Tickets are $150 each or $1,500 for a table of 10 and available via 1300 490 408 or
